The Bureau of Investigative Journalism estimates that nearly 180 innocent children and 420 Pakistani civilians have been killed by drone strikes. Amnesty International launched an investigation, finding that the killing of several targets in Pakistan by the U.S. violated the right to life and constitutes a war crime.

In May 2013, President Obama made a promise to increase transparency about drone strikes.

Since the, however, the Administration has yet to release any information or legal framework/justification behind the drone strikes. Despite immense pressure from international organizations, Obama continues to mandate drone strikes at record numbers.
