Drones help Thai media monitor political protests

You’ll have to wait till 2016 before Amazon starts shipping your packages with drones. But if you happen to be a Thai journalist interested in monitoring political protests (definitely not a stretch), a solution might be available right now.

Thailand’s capital city Bangkok is going through an unprecedented level of protests and social upheaval, and Thai media have leveraged flying robots to enable a startling amount of insight and footage into the protests and conflict. It’s a new age of journalism.

For example, this video — shared by Bangkok Pundit — show protesters clashing with police, and returning tear gas canisters that were fired at them.
